Hot-air Balloons

Cut off the the bottom corners (as indicated by the dotted lines below) of four pieces of tissue paper (50x75cm) .

Using paper glue, construct the following paper balloon. You will need to cut out a square piece to close the top of the balloon. Use some thin cardboard to make a seam than will keep the bottom part of the balloon open.

Push a length of fuse wire through one corner of the seam, across to the diagonal corner. At the same time thread it through a piece of cotton wool, positioning the cotton wool so that it will hang in the center of the opening.

Use a hairdryer to full the balloon with hot air, then douse the cotton wool with methylated  spirits, light it and release the hot-air balloon.
